Teta Maps Privacy Policy

Effective 28 September 2026 · Teta Sports

Teta Sports operates Teta Maps. This policy explains what data the app uses, when it leaves your device, and how to request deletion. Contact us at [email protected].

Data used by the app

Maps can be explored without an account. The app uses approximate map position, tile requests, search terms and, when you grant permission and use a relevant feature, device location. GPS tracks, saved places, offline maps and settings are primarily stored on your device. A location recording you start may continue through a foreground service while the screen is off; a persistent notification identifies it.

If you sign in, Clerk processes your account identity and authentication. Teta Sports stores the linked account ID, Community profile, follows, messages, posts, reports, contribution data, subscription state and per-account service-usage records in its Cloudflare-backed service. Photos and avatars you upload are stored as media objects. Your Community username and avatar can appear in other signed-in members' people searches. A profile link or QR code contains your stable public account ID; someone with that link can open your profile in the app. Searching or opening a profile does not disclose live location. A public post can expose its text, image, route, landmark and chosen location to other users; do not post a private or sensitive location.

Map and search providers may receive requests needed to deliver their data, including the requested map area or search text and your network address. Providers used by particular features include our Cloudflare map service, Esri imagery/search, and weather-data providers. Google Play handles subscription purchases and sends purchase status to our server for verification. Firebase Cloud Messaging may deliver Community notifications. Android and our service may process technical diagnostics and request metadata needed for security, reliability and cost controls; optional app diagnostics can be changed in Preferences.

Sharing and purposes

We use the data to provide maps, location features, account and Community functions, purchases, abuse reports, service limits and support. Public Community content is shown to other users. Private messages are delivered to their recipients; authorized service operators may access data when needed to investigate abuse or provide support. We do not sell personal data. External processors only receive data necessary for their service.

Retention and your choices

Optional group and live-location features

In versions offering these features, group invitations require acceptance; joining a group does not start location sharing. When you explicitly start a timed live share, precise GPS position, measurement time, accuracy and available altitude, speed and course are sent to our authenticated Cloudflare service and made available to your selected mutual friends or accepted group members. Sharing can continue with the screen off through a visible foreground-service notification. You choose separately whether to share a recent trail and whether recipients may save it. Live sharing is independent of recording a track on your device.

The audience is fixed when sharing starts; including new eligible members requires your action. Blocking, loss of mutual friendship for a friends share, or leaving/removal from the selected group revokes access on the server. Recipients can retain a clearly labelled last-known position briefly during connection loss. Stop ends uploads on this phone immediately and requests server revocation. If offline, the last position can remain available until reconnection or the session's expiry; the app does not promise immediate remote removal while offline.

Shared trails are limited to the recent 30 minutes. The server denies access at session expiry and uses bounded scheduled cleanup to remove expired location data; removal from physical storage is eventual, and provider backups can last longer. Live location is not placed in chat history or notification payloads. Recipients' permitted saved copies, exported files and screenshots cannot be recalled by stopping a share. Private messaging and live sharing use authenticated transport but are not end-to-end encrypted; authorized service operators may access them for service operation or abuse investigation.

You can delete local app data in Preferences and remove individual Community posts or saved items in the app. Local deletion does not delete your cloud account. We keep account and Community data while your account is active. After deletion we may retain limited records needed for legal obligations, disputes, fraud prevention or security, including a minimal account identifier and deletion timestamp to prevent an outstanding session token from recreating the account. Backups and provider logs may take additional time to expire. You can request access, correction or deletion at [email protected]. See the account deletion page for the full process.

Children, security and changes

Teta Maps is intended for adults aged 18 or older. We use authenticated access and provider security controls, but no online service can guarantee absolute security. We will update this page when our data practices materially change, and the effective date above will change with it.
